Just What We Needed

A couple of weeks ago, we went to the mailbox, expecting the usual bills, credit card applications, and sale adds. As we shuffled through the pile however, we found a card from my dad. It was just what we needed.

The card read:
" Remember,
when the going gets tough....

(open)

...you can always
come over and hide in the closet
with me!"

The message inside really touched us, it said:

"Dear Rob and Natalie,
Been thinking about ya today. I've had Branson on my mind-wondering what if... Wish I could take him on a wheeler ride and take his picture, wish I could hold him and teach him to say "gompa"... Another day, another time.
Sure hope you both are doing good.
Love, Dad"

Simple, but perfect. It brought tears to our eyes, for we yearn for those moments as well. It brought us happiness to know that Branson is thought of in specific, tender ways. It was just what we needed that day!

Thank you mom and dad for being so good to send cards full of love and thoughtfulness every few weeks. We look forward to them. They mean more than you'll ever know!

I received a few cards like that and I still have them. I'm glad that you were able to receive that. It's always nice to know that you aren't the only one who remembers your baby.

I've concluded that you and Rob have the most awesome parents -- what an example they are even to those who don't know them. Thank you for sharing them through your blog. (((hugs)))

Hello. I stumbled across your blog, and all I can say is that I have been moved to tears several times while reading about your experiences as a mother and the insights you have gained. Your faith is incredible and you have a beautiful gift to be able to articulate it the way you do. My heart aches for you and your loss, but know that your experience has strengthened my resolve to cherish every moment that I have with my family and to turn my life over to the Lord. I wish you the best of luck in your healing journey, and thank you for sharing!

I only met your mom and dad briefly when they were here after Branson's birth, but I have to say I knew immediately that they were amazing parents. Through your blog and their comments, this has held true! You guys are truly blessed!

Dear Rob and Natalie,
I...like you have grown alot over the last 10 months. I used to yearn and look for ways that I could "fix" things...I now know that won't happen and doesn't even need to happen. I've learned what a powerful thing is a thought acted upon and a kind work expressed. I am grateful for what I have learned and pray that the learning will continue.
Have a great day.
I love all three of you more than I can say.
Love, Dad

Dear Ones;
Thank you for showing appreciation to us for what we try to do. I've always thought that something in the mail or delivered to your door unexpectedly was a great way to remind others or be reminded that God Loves Us and knows who we are and works through others to remind us. I've always loved cards and the messages they can convey. Always know that we are thinking of you and Branson every single day and this is one way to let you know. May God Bless Your Way, Mom

Thank you for sharing you thoughts and feeling regarding your loss of your beautiful baby boy Branson. I too had a stillbirth last year (May 4) and always enjoy viewing others blogs and how they too have 'carried on' after a great loss.

Hello. You don't know me, but my Sister-in-law Amy Vallieres told me about your blog. My husband and I lost our baby at 30 weeks. It's now been 6 years and we have been blessed with 2 more children since then. I was keeping a journal of my thoughts but i'm hoping that by blogging about it, and getting it out into the open It will help to heal the wounds a little better. I am so very sorry that you have had to endure this but reading your blog today had brought me great peace in knowing that we are never alone.

I haven't read other people's blogs lately but I guess I just needed a good cry today. You are so lucky to have received that card.

Congratulations on your pregnancy. It is a bitter sweet experience being pregnant after losing a baby.
